Framing Your Subject

Toronto’s CN Tower Framed in Ice

Framing is a composition technique where you essentially compose a “frame” with the subject inside something else within the photograph. In this pic, the icy rocks and tree branches formed a natural “frame” and by positioning myself in the proper location, I was able to capture the iconic CN Tower along the Toronto skyline within this frame.

This day I had been out early morning in Niagara Falls and thought I would stop at Humber Bay Park on my way home. So even thought it was -20C, I’m very happy that I took the time to stop and capture this image.
