Fast Shutter Speed July 11, 2019 rjemmett Shutter speed is one of 3 factors (others being ISO and Aperture) that allow you as the photographer to control the exposure of your photograph. This image was obviously taken at a race track but it shows something that is less not often the focus of attention. Instead of focusing on the front of the horse, this image shows what is happening behind the horse. I love this image because it captured a few very interesting things. First, the horse is completely suspended in the air, second, the horseshoes on the hoofs are clearly shown and more shiny than I imagined, and third, my favourite thing is the earth which is thrown up in the air behind the horse is captured in the air. All because of a high shutter speed. In this case, my shutter speed was 1/2000 of a second and allowed the camera to capture all of those elements which happen in less than a blink of an eye.
